Our First Corsi-Rosenthal Box-Making Party!
Sunday, October 9. 2-5pm, in the lovely, spacious alley behind the Vote Socialist office, 4259 Fraser Street
On Oct. 9, we are holding a party where we all get together and build Corsi-Rosenthal boxes. Come on down to learn how to make these amazing home-made air-cleaning machines for yourself and your friends. Kids are welcome.
Corsi-Rosenthal Boxes are easy to make. They clean the air of airborne diseases like Covid, and they also remove pollutants, like fire smoke!
All the materials will be there to make 7 machines, which we plan to donate to some of our favorite mutual aid groups, like Masks4EastVan. People should also feel free to bring their own components, and we’ll show you how to put them together. See below for a list of these easy-to-find items.
These boxes were invented by environmental engineer and incoming Dean of Engineering at UC Davis, Richard Corsi, and Jim Rosenthal, the CEO of filter manufacturer Tex-Air Filters. Store-bought air purifiers can be very expensive. But Corsi-Rosenthal boxes do the same thing, and they can be made for about $130.
(By the way, we’re also going to deliver one to the Vancouver School Board office, so they can get the message about the need to clean the air in schools.)
When you come down to our office, the idea is that we’re going to do something truly joyful together, where we might even be saving people’s lives. It’s going to be fun! There’s going to be music with Geoff Berner and even a magic show with the amazing Travis Bernhardt.
As usual, masks are mandated at all of our events, and a variety of N95s are available there for free. Please do not attend if you are sick in any way. Inside the office, we will be monitoring C02 levels to make sure it is safe for all. A gender neutral bathroom is accessible by going around to the front of the store or up a large set of stairs. The bathroom is quite small and would not be able to accommodate a wheelchair. Outside, there’ll be a tent in case it rains.
Hope to see you down at the Vote Socialist office at 4259 Fraser, Sunday, Oct. 9, 2-5pm. Child-minding provided. (insert accessibility details)
